The easy solo (late elementary)

Pictures from the past

I love the images of another time which the lyrics of this song bring to mind... Grandmother's cap... the horse and sleigh... trot fast, my dapple-gray!  I notice that my students like them too.

The duet - very fun!

An arrangement for early beginners

Here is the easiest version of this pretty piece - a setting at Middle C position, the notes that beginning piano players are focusing on the first year or two of learning to read music.  This is the arrangement played by my student in the video above.

The arrangement above is PRETTY INTUITIVE, and easy. The lyrics are contagious!

A flowing secondo arrangement

Despite sounding pretty, this accompaniment to the melody is full of energy!  This is what I am playing as I accompany my student, in the video above.

Piano secondo for Over the River

I hope you enjoy this lively song from another time!

Carol L:  Hi Dana,
Just wanted to thank you for the "Over the River and Through the Woods" duet! I've been discussing this song with students for the past two holiday seasons. This seems to be one of those lesser known holiday songs. Students hadn't heard it and even more surprising, some parents as well! Last year we did a study on the lyrics and students listened to the song. This year we learned it using a lead sheet. Can't wait to try the duet! Thank you for all you do. Happy holidays to you and yours.
