Guitar chords & tabs for Sweet Betsy From Pike

With 3 beats per measure, a simple pattern of Bass, strum, strum, suits Sweet Betsy very well.

The key of G, shown above, is a very nice key for picking out the melody.  Easy notes, and lots of open string notes.  The chords are easy ones too, except perhaps the Bm chord, but that's one your beginner guitarists need to be working on anyway.

However, the melody is too high for comfortable singing!

A version with different lyrics:

In the chorus, the singer uses the fun words "Doodle-dang, fol-dee-die, doodle-dang, fol-dee-day. Doodle-dang, fol-dee-die, doodle-dang, fol-dee-day."

The key of C is easier for singing along

From Middle C to treble C is the vocal range of this arrangement.  It is perfect for young kids to sing (and quite comfortable for most adults, too).

Of course, when you're in the key of C, there's that pesky F chord to contend with, but your students need that reinforcement!
