Why should we not write the letters in?

Some of the time beginners will struggle to play the notes. Why should we not write the letters in English or write the English letters under the notes ?. It's easy to learn the song.

Sometimes I will write in the FIRST NOTE NAME or the name of a note that is new to the student, but I never will write in all the note names because then the student will not learn to read notes.

And NOTE READING is my goal. Very rarely, I might teach a song BY ROTE or by writing out the letters only, but that is never a regular part of a lesson, but purely for fun.
