Ding Dong Merrily On High free online Christmas music for voice and piano, now with two EASIER arrangements for piano!
This is an old Christmas carol from England, though it is said to have first come from France after being translated from Latin. It is a fun song to sing and to play!
Here is a new Middle C arrangement, with chord symbols above the lines:

And here is a new arrangement in G, that has a simpler left hand in the chorus than my previous version:

Your young students may feel that the melody is too tricky for them, but with careful reading, and starting with the right finger on the first note, the melody moves nicely along step-wise with only a few skips.
I've put some fingering into this arrangement; there is only one place where a shift in hand position is necessary, and I have marked it with a little bracket. To my students, this indicates a "spider-scale" event - where their fingers will pass over, or cross under.
Below is a piano version in the key of G for early intermediate level students, plus lead sheets for other instruments in seven different keys, with the chords.

Here is a closeup of the lead sheet in A:
I like to teach the G lead-sheet to my piano students (a good key for singing this free Christmas sheet music in) using just the chord symbols and no bass clef (it's good practice for them).
If I did give them a written left hand, it would look like this:

Here's a closeup of the second part of that arrangement:
This is a fast-moving Christmas song, which makes it exciting to play. And for late elementary/early intermediate students, it is pretty easy to master the hands together, as the two hands are almost taking turns in the chorus.
I hope you and your students enjoy this free Christmas music!

This is the perfect easy start for little pianists.
And when they start reading white-key notes on the staff, this is a fun easy resource to say each week, "Choose a new black-key song at home this week and figure it out to show me next lesson!" They will be spending more time at the piano.

I just purchased O Holy Night to use as a duet for Christmas Eve Mass.
Thank you so much for this simple, easy to read version as my vocalists are not professional and this music won't be quite so intimidating as other arrangements I have. Your expertise is much appreciated!! Merry Christmas!
Liz:
Hello - I just want to say THANK YOU so much for the duet version of Oh Holy night (in Bb too!), which is great, as I have two students at school that are going to sing this in a concert in 3 weeks.
With not much time and no budget, it is so nice to find an arrangement! Thank you.
Do you have a funny story about this music, or does it remind you of something you'd like to share with other readers? Do you have a question? I'd love to hear it!
