THE STORE

Most of the sheet music on my site is free. Almost all of it. But there are a few pieces which are for sale. Check them out, all on one page here, and if you like, click on the links to go to a different page to see what the music LOOKS LIKE ,and to hear how it sounds on one of many videos from Youtube.

"Ah, perdona al primo affeto" is a little-known duet for high voices by Mozart. It is very pretty, and has all the charm we expect from Mozart. This vocal duet needs to be better known -- it practically sings itself, it is so irresistable.

From the opera "La clemenza de Tito" (The mercy of Tito), the duet roles belong to a soprano and a mezzo-soprano who plays the part of a young man -- a "trouser role," as it is known in opera. Therefore the "male" role is set high. It may seem odd to your students at first, but it will give you an opportunity to share a little history of opera... what was a castrato, for example?

You may download the score for piano and voices for $2.75, in any of the 5 different keys. See what it looks like, on 7 pages, by going to the Sales page for the Piano/vocal version of Ah, perdona al primo affetto:

Ave Maria fulfills the desire for wedding ceremony music that is elegant and beautiful. There are many musical settings for the text "Ave Maria," but the one by Bach/Gounod is one of the most famous, and makes the loveliest of wedding songs. When I looked for wedding songs for my own wedding (many years ago!), none of the Christian wedding songs seemed as beautiful to me as this sung prayer.

With alternative English words addressed to God the Father, this free wedding sheet music joins the ranks of Protestant Christian wedding songs. Yes, the Latin words are here too, in a free lead sheet version.

I have set it in multiple keys so that most instrumentalists can play it, as well as most vocalists sing it. Look down the page for the free lead sheets, and farther down for downloadable piano music accompaniments (unlike most of the music on my site, those ones are for sale).

The price of Ave Maria or the English Protestant version, Father Almighty, is $2.75, and you may print 3 copies.

The Flower Duet, known in French as "Sous le dome epais," is one of the most beautiful opera duets your sopranos will ever sing.

Here is the Lakme Flower Duet sheet music in the standard vocal-piano arrangement, and also transposed down a 3rd into the key of G. Now, you can also perform the full Flower Duet if you are a bass instrumentalist, in B or in G! Download one of these beautiful copies for the lowest price around.

Originally, the Flower Duet is in the key of B. Too high! At least for young, undeveloped voices. And for early rehearsal work when notes are being learned, it can be nice to sing lower. We're going to be rehearsing it for a long time, so we learn it in the key of G.

The complete (16-page) Flower Duet versions are $3.75 each. The 5-page arrangements are $1.75 each.

Halloween Songs? Yes, kids LOVE scary Halloween music. You will be giving a big TREAT to your beginning piano students if you can find any for them. But the TRICK is finding Halloween songs that they can read easily and learn to play quickly, and that won't take too much time from their regular lesson material.

Here is an 8-song collection of songs for Halloween my students and I have been enjoying for several years. Music should be fun, and maybe a little bit spooky at Halloween time, and that's why I wrote these songs!

The best thing about these little Halloween songs is that they conjure up pleasantly spooky images without being too creepy for young children. Also, it is easy for piano students to succeed quickly (making them feel smart) with this "scary Halloween music" because the simple stories pull them along toward the conclusions with many repeated step-wise patterns.

With the $3.75 download comes the right to make up to 5 copies of each copyrighted song for no additional charge.

"I Dreamt That I Dwelt in Marble Halls" may be familiar to your vocal students already, since it has been performed by Maev of the Celtic Woman singers on Celtic Journey.

From the opera "The Bohemian Girl," it is the story of Arline, a gypsy girl who finds out that she is really the long-lost daughter of Count Arnheim of Austria, kidnapped in infancy but now recognized because of a scar she bears. The only problem for Arline now is that she still loves the gypsy boy... Your singers will be excited to have this lovely song!

I Dreamt That I Dwelt in Marble Halls is for sale for $2.75.

The Moldau by Smetana (Die Moldau), here in printable sheet music for piano. This long and fancy version, my own arrangement of the beautiful music from Ma Vlast, makes a stirring recital piece for your intermediate piano students.

It is a favorite in my studio; after hearing another student play it at a recital, kids remember and ask if they can have it too!

Unlike almost all of the music on this site, this arrangement is for sale only -- three copies for $2.75.

O Mio Babbino Caro Sheet Music for your vocal students. This is the standard piano arrangement, requiring an adept accompanist... but it is SO BEAUTIFUL. Buy it in the original key of Ab, or transposed down to G, or very low, down to Eb.

Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro" is surely one of the loveliest opera arias of all time. It is also fairly easy to sing, except for the octave leaps, which give the song such excitement. Take advantage of the opera sheet music I offer here with several different keys, to suit young voices.

The cost of the standard arrangement is $2.75, and $4.00 for the simplified version collection in all four keys.

See the standard accompaniment on this page, and the simplified arrangement at this page.

"Three Little Maids from School" from Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado" is perfect for a beginning vocal trio or ensemble! Experienced choirs will enjoy singing this song too. Most of the lines are unison, with short bursts of 3-part harmony, like bird song...

You can purchase this seven-page standard arrangement for $2.75, with permission to print 5 copies.

Voi che sapete is a beautiful aria from Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro" (Le Nozze di Figaro), considered by many to be the greatest opera of all. It is familiar even to many who are unfamiliar with opera music generally, such as the millions who have seen and loved A&E's 1996 Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth Bennett is singing and playing it at Pemberley, while Mr. Darcy looks on with a soft expression. (If you would like to see that short portion of the film with her song, check the bottom of this page!)

In Marriage of Figaro, Voi che sapete is sung by the young page Cherubino (a male part traditionally played by a mezzo-soprano), who is bemused and confused about the strange but wonderful new feelings he has in the presence of females...

Voi che sapete, available here transposed down to G and F as well as in the original key of Bb, is for sale for $2.75 for 3 copies.

What Wondrous Love for a capella choir... The first time I heard the group Blue Highway sing their a capella version of What Wondrous Love, my jaw dropped. "Yes!" I shouted -- "I have got to have that melody!" The choral arrangement they sang was completely captivating, like a bluegrass version of the old Shape note hymn. "Someday I'll figure that out," I told myself.

Well, here it is... a choral arrangement (though instruments can take the place of vocal parts) of the Bluegrass-sounding version of What Wondrous Love.

Get What Wondrous Love in Ebm, 10 Copies for $4.00. Why TEN COPIES? Well, everyone in your choir is going to want to sing this song!

Wiegenlied is a beautiful German song. Once known as Mozart's Cradle Song or Lullaby, it is offered here in four keys.

Jane Austen movies have some of the loveliest vocal pieces, and it was in the Jane Austen movie Emma (A&E, 1997) (with Kate Beckinsale) that I first heard this charming song. The beautiful Jane Fairfax sang just one verse of Wiegenlied, while Emma and Frank Churchill whispered and flirted.

There is no doubt that the German lyrics of the Cradle Song are a mouthful, -- but don't shy away from giving it to your beginning singers because of that. At some point they need to be introduced to German, and ALL German songs are difficult for non-German speakers! Let them learn verse 1 first, and later, when they are more comfortable singing Deutsch, ask if they'd like verse 2 or 3.

You can purchase Wiegenlied for $1.75, in any of the four keys offered. It comes with permission to make up to 3 copies.

You can also purchase all four as a package for $4.75. Again, the package comes with permission to make 3 copies of each song.

So why should you buy digital music from me, aside from the fact that it is less expensive, and I allow you to print multiple copies?

• The music is available immediately as a digital download onto your computer.

• You don't have to download any new software into your computer in order to download this PDF. I don't know about you, but I hate clogging up my computer with yet another program I didn't know I needed. You just need a version of Adobe Acrobat or another PDF reader, which all computers come with. If you DON'T have Adobe Acrobat or a similar program, then you couldn't download any of my other PDFs either.

• The notes and lyrics are a little bigger than the copies currently available in music stores, making reading easier!

• Speaking of reading the music, you can print this music on any kind of paper you want, and thus avoid the glare of shiny pages (so irritating for accompanists!).

•Write and make notes all over these copies, in red and other colors, without feeling you are spoiling your music for posterity. I dislike messing up my music books, but learning the piece is always the first priority. These printouts will make great working copies.

• Do you need a letter of permission in order to use this music at a competition? Write me through the Contact Me form, and I will email you a personal letter.

• I give you permission to make several copies legally. Do I speak tongue-in-cheek? Not at all -- as music teachers, as music students, you know there are times when you need music RIGHT NOW and your only recourse is to make a copy of copyrighted music...or do without. (People do what they have to do, but there are consequences... Cheating...just a little...is hard on one's character. I believe this is one of the keys of political corruption, one little compromise after another. Not only that, but music teachers teach by example. What are your students learning from you about the value of the work of composers, arrangers, and publishers? Of the value of musicians in general?)

• PayPal, the payment system I use, is a secure and recognized payment system. You can pay by credit or debit card, or your bank account. E-Junkie delivers the PDF document, working as a partner with PayPal...your purchase is guaranteed.

Tip for Printing

Once you've got the PDF file sheet music, feed just one page at a time, unless you know you have high-quality paper which won't grab extra sheets when being pulled through the feeder.
