Pizza Please Guitar Tabs for Beginning Guitar Players
Pizza Please guitar sheetmusic is really just Hot Cross Buns in disguise for beginning guitar. It is perfect for a first or second guitar lesson, because it all happens on one string -- no string
crossing!

You might think the tune of Hot Cross Buns wouldn't stir the heart, but kids like being
able to master such an easy melody. They also love the fun of saying, "Pep-per-o-ni, cheese,
an-cho-vy!"
Using the 4 finger on fret 4 is a little hard at first, but it is a good exercise to introduce
early on, to prevent the little finger curling down into the
palm, or tucking under the guitar neck. This song's
fingering encourages the left hand to stay open and relaxed, with the fingers up and ready
for action.
After kids are comfortable with the timing and fingering of the song, we get our picks out
and try a slow "Down, down, down. Down, down, down. Down-up, down-up, down-up, down-up.
Down, down, down" motion. It's nice and easy, because it's all on one string.
Pizza, Please! guitar music is very easy to count. After talking about note values, we count out the notes as individual units: "1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3-4. 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3-4. 1,1,1,1, 1,1,1,1, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3-4."
Later -- perhaps much later -- students will transition into counting by measures. I have doubled the note values in this beginning guitar song in order to remove the difficulties of counting eighth notes.
