Music Therapists can offer you some extra insight

Hi all!

This is just an informational note :)

Music Therapists would be a great asset to all of you teaching children on the spectrum. We attend a four year accredited Music Therapy program, complete a 1040 hour internship and then sit for a Board Certification Exam (to become MT-BC) before we can practice. Many Music Therapists have ample experience with children with special needs, including autism, and many of us teach adapted music lessons to these students as well.

If you ever feel stuck and frustrated, you can find a Music Therapist in your area by contacting the Certification Board for Music Therapists at: www.cbmt.org

To learn more about Music Therapy, please see the American Music Therapy Association's website: www.musictherapy.org

Have a great day and happy teaching!
