I Need Help Reading Notes

by Hayley from Deltona
I love to play the piano but I have issues reading sheet music. Can you please put up a more descriptive way to read sheet music??
(Dana: Hayley, take a look below:)

Dana:

I am placing a link to a PDF book here that talks about basic notereading. (I've tried to place this link before; hopefully it will work this time...). It is a free book that has a license allowing anyone to distribute it. I hope it helps you -- it may be far too easy for you.

But I have some other ideas for you, too. Go to your local library and spend about half an hour in the music section - it's around the 798's, I think. Pull all the books about reading music down off the shelves and browse through them until you find a book that actually makes sense to you. If you are like me, you will find that the best and easiest book to understand is the one aimed at young kids!

Otherwise, keep looking around the internet for "music theory" and "how to read music." Also, getting a music teacher is not a bad idea!

Remember what it was like when you first learned to read English. The more you did it, the better you got.

Good luck!
